Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. It is commonly used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness. The practice is based on the concept of balancing the body's energy flow, or "qi," through pathways known as meridians.

Modern acupuncture has been integrated into many healthcare settings due to its potential benefits in treating conditions such as chronic pain, migraines, osteoarthritis, and stress-related disorders. Although the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, acupuncture is believed to stimulate the nervous system, increase blood circulation, and trigger the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals.

Acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a trained and licensed practitioner. Sessions typically last between 20 to 40 minutes, with needles left in place for 15 to 30 minutes. While some individuals may experience immediate relief, others may require multiple treatments to achieve desired results.

Common side effects include minor bruising, slight bleeding, or temporary soreness at needle sites. It is important to discuss any medical conditions or concerns with a healthcare provider before starting acupuncture treatment.
